Motorola CP100d
Motorola CP100d is an easy to use high quality, rugged, and cost-effective two-way radio. Coined as the replacement for the Motorola CP185, for all basic radio users, the CP100D delivers clarity and reliability coupled with the additional benefit of digital technology (when the digital version is purchased).
The Motorola CP100d is able to be used with an earpiece, headset, or remote speaker microphone and has the M1 2-pin accessory connector meaning that all audio accessories are very cost-effective.
The Motorola CP100d is both analog and digital compatible (when you buy the digital model) and is ideal for system migration. For analog radio users who want to migrate to digital, the Motorola CP100d can be programmed to work with both your old and new radios. As standard, we program 8 digital and 8 analog channels. Once you have completely replaced all of the analog radios, the existing CP100d radios can be reprogrammed to have a full set of 16 digital channels.
Standing at 4.7" in height, 2.2" in width, 1.4" depth (with the standard lithium battery), and weighing at just 9.07oz the CP100d is a full-size commercial two-way radio yet fits comfortably in the user's hand.
The Motorola CP100d is supplied with a spring belt clip or can be used with an optional extra carry case (see Motorola CP100d accessories). These two carrying options allow the radio to be carried without obstruction yet still be within reach should it be needed urgently.
We also recommend looking at our selection of Motorola CP100d accessories for optional extra earpieces and microphones which make the CP100d easier to use when the CP100d itself kept on the belt.
The CP100d has programmable buttons to allow for frequently used features to be accessible instantly. By default, we usually program the button below the PTT as the channel monitor and the bottom button as the high/low power button. However, by selecting "customized programming", we can program them however the user prefers. A common use for one of these buttons is an emergency function that will alert all other radios that a user may be in distress. Another feature is high and low power; where the battery life can be conserved when radios are used in close proximity.
A channel of the radio is capable of being set as a scanning channel, this will quickly and constantly run through the programmed channels looking for an incoming transmission to ensure that no messages are missed. Busy channel lockout is also a highly endorsed feature that will block anybody trying to transmit onto a channel whilst someone is already talking, this ensuring that transmissions aren't crossed and slowing down the overall efficiency of the workforce. Although the lockout feature stops people from interjecting in transmissions, should the PTT button be accidentally pressed then there is also a time-out-timer that will end transmissions after a pre-set period of time in order to ensure channels aren't locked due to accidental transmissions.

Motorola CP100d Features Explained
PC Programmable: The Motorola CP100d is fully customizable via a Windows PC (Windows 7 or above). By using a Motorola PMKN4128A programming cable (sold separately) and the programming software*, almost every aspect of the radio can be programmed or customized.
* Software is available as a download from Motorola Solutions direct by by calling 1-800-927-2744).
Analog or Digital Operation: As long as the digital version of the CP100d is purchased, digital can be programmed into one channel and analog into another channel.
Blocks Unwanted Radio Interference: On analog channels CTCSS/DCS is supported and on digital channels group code and color code to block out unwanted traffic.
Two Channels In One Frequency: Utilizing TDMA technology, which is part of the DMR digital standard, the CP100d is capable of delivering two channels using just one frequency. How this works is the two channels share the frequency using time division, meaning that both channels can use the frequency simultaneously without any collisions or interference.
Priority Interrupt: In an emergency, someone may already be using the radio. With the Motorola CP100d, this doesn't matter. An ongoing conversation can be interrupted in both back-to-back and repeater mode.
Tough & Rugged: Motorola CP100d is built to conform to MIL-STD C/D/E/F/G military standards. This is a series of thirty-eight rigorous tests a for ruggedness. You can rest assured that no matter what the environment, CP100d will stand the test of time.
Waterproof & Dust-Resistant: Motorola CP100d meets the specification for IP54 for dust & water protection. The CP100d is more than capable of withstanding harsh operating conditions.
Crystal Clear & Loud Audio: A radio's most important quality is audio clarity – being able to hear, loud and crystal-clear, what your teammate is saying. And the Motorola CP100d two-way radio delivers just that. There is a built-in speaker that provides very loud and clear audio output meaning this radio is one of the loudest radios on the market, without any distortion. CP100d also features DSP technology that accurately replicates natural human speech, even with high levels of ambient noise, meaning it can block out a great deal of unwanted noise.
Voice Announcement: Motorola CP100d has voice-announcement. That means every time you change the channel or activate/deactivate a feature using a programmable button the CP100d will announce what changed. For example, if you change to channel 2, the radio will say "channel two". Or if you have a button programmed to low/high power, when pushing the button the radio will say "low power". This is very useful at night or in dark working environments. Furthermore, when an accessory (such as an earpiece or microphone) is connected, the voice announcement will be heard via the accessory instead.
Wide Frequency Range: The UHF Motorola CP100d operates from 403-480 MHz. That's a lot of possible frequencies meaning that your CP100d is futureproof. As you build a fleet of radios, or change from a basic FCC license to a more advanced FCC license, you will not have to change to any other model two-way radio.

Analog Vs. Digital
The Motorola CP100d is available in two different flavours – Analog or Digital.
TLDR: The digital version of the Motorola CP100d is, put simply, the same radio as an analog CP100d with with the digital microchip activation licence key pre-installed, and hence the digital microchip switched on.
So what's the difference?
The Motorola CP100d analog-only version is the same as the digital version - it even has the digital microchip on the main board - but the digital microchip was never activated in the factory. To activate the digital microchip, you need to purchase a digital microchip activation licence key from a Motorola dealer, for example, Radiotronics (you can buy it here on this website).
Most popular Q/A: Can the digital version still work in analog mode? Yes. The digital version of the CP100d can be programmed to work in either analog or digital. It's definable per channel. The DP1400 cannot do mixed-mode on one channel.
Motorola CP100d Audio Accessories
E.g. Earpieces, Headsets, Microphones...
The Motorola CP100d is able to be used with an earpiece, headset or remote speaker microphone. The Motorola CP100d has the M1 2-pin accessory connector meaning that all audio accessories are very cost-effective.
Radiotronics offers both genuine Motorola and aftermarket audio accessories giving a wide range of choice. Please see our dedicated Motorola CP100d accessories category.
Motorola CP100d Charger Options
The Motorola CP100d includes a single charger & mains power supply. That means that no matter what, you'll get a charger for your CP100d radio.
Single chargers are ideal for when the user needs all the radios almost permanently in different places; for example school classrooms. The user would place the charger in a store room for example and charge the radio every evening for use the next day.
However, single chargers can also promote bad charging practice where the CP100d can get almost permanently left in it's single charger. That's not good for battery health and will damage the battery.
By a long stretch the very best solution for users with radio fleets above 4 radios is to use the 6-way charger. This enables good two-way radio charging practice where radios can be stored in a specific location and booked out and back in to keep track of them. The Genuine Motorola CP100d Six Gang Charger is an integrated all-in-one six way charging solution (sold separately).
Replaces Older Motorola CP185
The Motorola CP100d is the direct replacement for the Motorola CP185. So much so, that the CP100d shares the batteries, chargers, antennas, top knobs and has the exact same accessory connector for earpieces & remote speaker microphones. In fact, you could keep all of your batteries and accessories and swap-out just the CP185 radio for the CP100d radio.
The only difference is that the CP100d is available as a digital version. See the options when ordering.
Motorola Warranty Options
Motorola portable and mobile two-way radios ship with standard 2‐year parts and labor warranty to safeguard against manufacturing defects. Wear and tear as well as user damage is not covered. As an optional extra, when ordering, additional years' warranties can be purchased.
